The Willy’s Transmission Story

At the 2006 Portland Roadster Show the Willy’s lost the bearings in the transfer case which in turn took out both the T90 transmission and the Warn overdrive. Thanks to Glenn Green and Crew the Willy’s got a tow back to Woodburn. We are now in the process of installing a Turbo 350 with stage two shift kit and a Z28 convertor along with a rebuilt transfer and new "Warn" overdrive and the required adapters to retain 4WD capability. Thanks for the help from the following:

Ken Gallager - Ken put me in contact with Gene Benson of Flat O Products, 2195 Commercial St NE in Salem. Gene was an invaluable source for information and parts.Phil Hathaway - Phil helped locate the right Turbo 350 to use with the 4WD and transfer case. Chris Hathaway - Chris did a complete rebuild on the Turbo 350. Greg Natvig - Greg of Greg’s Light Truck and Auto Repair in Woodburn is putting most of the above together in the Willy’s (Greg is not a Flywheel, but he should be) The Flywheels are a great group that help each other! Thanks Again, Bob Bullard

P.S. Be at Alfalfa Glenn’s June 8th for Margarita’s

OLD Business:

Bob gave a report on Joseph, he still has some applications but word is there are no rooms left. But the B-B-Q at Glens is on again for Thursday afternoon. Be There!!!

Wes is still working on getting the Trailer fixed for Mike Kohl, hopefully at D-W’s place and we are going to use 50/50 $ to pay for the decking. This is the guy supplies tents for the MaCleay show.

The 3rd Saturday happened and we all had great coffee, donuts and a very good time. The next 3rd Saturday get together at Jim’s Super service Station is May 20th.

The downtown merchants will be doing their Car Show / Antique Show on July 4th. Car Show at Eugene Field School and the Antique stuff Down Town. Jay Sorgen is Ram Rodding.

Run update:

Jack Rhyne is handling the Poker Walk again this year (more likely Sharon, but you didn’t hear it from me)

Wes is checking into the old service station, but wait, he is on his way to Tennessee! Damn Him.

Camp out at MaCleay is happening on Saturday night for members.

Any ideas for Games??

NEW Business:

A group is heading up to Seattle for the NHRA Drags on July 21-22-23. Super 8 in Federal Way has some rooms reserved under the Flywheels name.

Wes is going to be interviewed for an article in the Senior News of Albany. Sounds like it happened this week but have no idea when it will be published.

Edd found an old Rainier Beer Truck for sale up in his neck of the woods all on a 64 F-600 $1500.00 bucks Hall maybe the Club should buy it!

Sue Fischer from the High School has the applications for the Jon Dunn Scholarship ready for the Club to review and Keenan has picked them up and he and his crew have scored them and the winners will be announced at the annual awards banquet at the high school. The awards are for $500.00 and $250.00.

Speaking of the High School, they will be having their annual Car Show on May 19th?

Nanook of the North:

(Hell The Great White North is off gallivanting around the deep south with Wes, Bob and Glen.)

THE GREAT WHITE NORTH

I RECEIVED THIS LETTER FROM RAND LAST MONTH

RAND BREITBACH <rcamman80@msn.com> wrote:

Okay, now that you have infested Silverton with your buddy, "The Mole" Turner. What are you going to do for an encore? Sounds like he talks to you every night for hours while Kay is making him dinner. Is he ratting us Good Guys (that would read Bill, Schmidt and Rand and the rest of the GM drivers) out? Or just telling you what your brother Senor' Wes has been doing each day? You know keeping track of Wes and all his antics is a full time job and it might not be a good thing to have Doug "The Mole" on that particular assignment.

The other day Doug was giving Wes more grief than Bill could on a good day, well maybe not that much, but he was sure looking like a Good Ole GM man if I ever saw one. Wes was getting more frustrated by the minute, finally someone bought another round of beer ( both green and standard) and they forgot what they were arguing about. It was great, even Bill was choking on his Pabst's! But enough of what happened on just one evening at Pudge's, you'll have to subscribe to the "Real Deal Bar Notes" next time your down. It is only mailed to the regulars!!

Here was my reply,

RAND, I'm sure glad you GM guys are enjoying my old friend Turner. It was planned for you to take him in to your Good Ole GM club, he even bought a Bill car, ( that S-10 Blazer) to get in on your good side. You will notice that when he wanted a real car he gave me a call and we found him a 98 Lincoln Mark 8. Yes, Turner calls me most every night so we can plan his next move. He fills me in on what is going on at the office ("Pudge's") with our Prez. Wes. He also keeps track of the members of that so called " Good Ole GM Guys" club who frequent the office. Turner said "they go to Pudges to drink to forget all the troubles they are having with their GM cars", " I think if they drink enough beer it helps them forget they own one". Now as to "ratting" you & Bill out, that is a little harsh, more like getting some usable information on you GM guys for us FORD guys to use in the future, is more like it. Turner said "You would be surprised just how much dumb stuff those GM guys say about how fast their cars are after I've bought them a couple cheep beers." I use all the information Turner gets so I can use it after I get back to Silverton. He is there also to help Bro.Wes, when Bro. Bob Noble is not at the office, so Wes can stand up to all those Chevy lovers that give him grief after Wes has had a "few"(?) beers. The day that you seen Turner give Wes all that grief, Turner was trying to get in good with ole Bill, everyone knows that Turner can hand out more of it on his worst day then Bill could handle on his best day. You said that Turner was looking like one of your "Good Ole GM" men, all I can say to Turner is " it's working" you've got them fooled. Wes frustrated?? not our Prez., he has a mind like a steel trap, nerves of steel, the face that the women love, the best black truck in the car club, and Wes also has the body of a 18 year old ,(oh yeah Wes you better let that 18 year old body go home) in short, " WES IS THE MAN"

So you say ole Bill choked on his Pabst, well anyone who drinks Pabst should choke, or puke, and is likely to do both after they drink that stuff. With Turner around he had better watch out or he will hear those famous Turner words, " YOU WANT TO RUN IT? " Bill has heard those words before and the result wasn't pretty. You call Turner " The Mole " that may be a good name, as Moles kind of sneak up on you, one day your yard is Moe free and the next day it is full of holes. That is what will happen to you GM guys, your story's will be so full of holes, after the Mole gets through with you and you will never see it coming. Turner is the real deal, you GM guys will have to keep a low profile around him or pay the price. Remember he knows were you drink, so you can't hide, well you CAN hide, but, then you can't drink, he KNOWS how to get to you, all he has to do is HANG out at the bar knowing dammed well you will show up sooner or later. So all I can say to you is "TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGING" " Now that "The Mole" is in town so it will "never" be the same in Silverton again. As to a encore, well I have a lot of time to plan my next move. Bro. Edd

Wes is Missing Corner:

Okay, as most every knows by now, Wes, Bob, Edd & Glenn are off to the unknown region of the U.S. of A. somewhere way down south. So, it is time to have a little fun with them. Any ideas? I know Bro Bill and the Little Littlefield are brewing up some mischief, but I would not know anything about that.

Lots of things are going on in members shops, garages, etc. Even Noble has a new ride that is residing in his new shop. Some type of antiquer car, I think I heard Model A in the conversation, might have to ask Keenan about it.

Meeting night will be a little quieter than normal, but I know that Larry, Brian and myself will make sure that does NOT happen!! Might even have to get Jack or Ole Al involved. Want to make sure we don’t let Wes and Bob down.

Okay, everyone remember to come up with some Beer Signs, tap handles, etc. for the upcoming MaCleay Show Benefit Auction for the Jon Dunn Scholarship.

NEXT MEETING MAY 18th at the Countryman at 7:30

GOOD of the ORDER:

Anyone heading to Glens for the B-B-Q, a group will be leaving Hi-School Rx around noon.

Heard that NASCAR is looking at Brooks again.

Keenan is working on getting his 37 Chevy PU ready for paint.

Jim Woods Thanked everyone that has been patronizing his business. You know the 3rd Saturday deal.
