Okay, here we go again! Man these months have been going by
fast, especially when you don’t pay attention to time as well as I should. Enough of this babble, here is the past
months news!!
Meeting
notes:
38 Members and 4 guests!!
Wow what a start to 2005 and a handful of regulars have not been by to
pay their dues. Oh, by the way, the
4 guests were from the Multnomah Hot Rod Council and they all Joined Our
Club!! Pretty cool deal. They
stopped by to give us an update on how their club is doing and the changes in
their leadership. All for the
good! They also are going to try to
become more involved with the Salem Car Council, which would be a really good
deal.
Old
Business:
Well, we went and did it, got serious for a few minutes and talked about
the Homer Show, which is only 5 months away!! We discussed how things went last year
and if we wanted to add some items to this years activities that the Club may
want to be involved with.
Such as having
a Team in the Davenport Races on Sunday.
We have a group of youngsters that “should” be able to push a
group of old guys around the block several times. More on that in the coming months, but
if you have an old 3 piece sectional laying around keep that idea in
mind.
Jack Rhyne
left the room for a few minutes and we voted to have Sharon and Jack check into
doing the Poker Walk again! And
then I don’t know if Wes chatted with Jack or not, so this might be the first
time Jack & Sharon hear about this.
Opps!! Hey Jack are you up
to it?? If not no problem!!
Next Claudia
Green asked for permission to start chasing down items for Goody Bags. She will
grab helpers as she sees fit. So
Watch Out! The group said Have At It. We gave up doing bags several years ago
because we didn’t have time to chase things down, etc. So this is a Good
Thing!!
Okay we have
been fairly irregular with our trips down to the Service Station owned by member
James Wood. We decided to pick the
2nd Saturday of each month as a regular day for an organized Club Get
Together at the station. The other
Saturdays are still open to drop by, etc. but wanted to give Jim a set date to
be prepared for an onslaught of Cars & Members!SO BE THERE MARCH 12th!! At 10 AM the station that
is....
Okay, a biggie is coming up sooner than you might think. Glen is going to have his B-B-Q / Car
Show at his place in Alfalfa on Wednesday and then make it a 2 day trip to
Joseph with a stop in Burns or Baker.
The Club has 25 rooms under the Flywheels name at the Best Western in
Enterprise, Or. Call 541-426-2000
and make your reservations soon.
A decision was made to support Oregon
Troops deployed in the war zone by sending them Oregon Flags. Club is working on getting that
accomplished.
Remember to bring Hot Wheels, etc. and Food for the Food Bank to the
meeting.
Web
Site Update
I
have made a couple of changes this last week and there are a few more to
come. I appreciate any and all comments and suggestions
I get and they lead to changes that make the web site better. Here are the
recent changes.
1)
When you log on the members area, if you were successful, you will be
automatically returned to the web site home page.
2) The home page
either shows "welcome visitor" until you log in and them displays your
name.
3)
Password changing has been moved to the member’s only page.
4)
You can now update your own member information in the members’ only area after
you log on.
Coming
soon: Instead of having to request an initial password
online, new members and existing members will be sent a password to
use. Hopefully this will increase the use of the forum area, which
continues to work well, but needs more members participating. Jump in and
give it a try.
Pictures
of your rides are always welcome. If you don't have digital pictures, I
can scan photographs and return them to you. Bob

Larry Brown and I attended Salem Auto Club Council meeting Monday 28 of Feb.
Taking around 1500 of our show flyers to add to their mailing
list. They collect flyers from all council members and send out
packets made up of club show flyers to mailing list supplied may council
members. Last year they sent around 1500 of our flyers and cost to
"The Club" was lest then $34.00. Not a bad deal in may book.
Also the Salem Auto Club Council is organizing the 77th annual Cherry Blossom
Drive & Poker
Run
Saturday April 9 2005. Starts at Walery's Pizza on Edgewater St. in South
Salem starting at 10 am to 3 pm. There will be at least 5 or maybe 6 stops
along the way to draw winning cards. More at March

Tacoma. Henry's Half-Tons are hosting this trip and has invited The

The "56" project is coming right along with a lot of HELP from Rand. The wiring
is done, just some fine-tuning, is all. Tilt steering column, carpet, seat
storage cabinet and seat are done. And everything is "Looking Good".
Should be on the street some time next week. Only got two months
before heading
to
The F-100 Nationals in Tennessee. THANKS Again to all the members

Yesterday
when I took in several bags of Hotwheels and toys from the Flywheels Car Club to
be given to kids in the hospital waiting rooms I commented to Kay that the
largest bag was from a boy who is about 10 years old and is the grandson of
Flywheels members. He had gathered up some of his toys and brought them to
a Flywheels meeting for us to donate for other kids to enjoy. Kay and I
thought it would be nice if the hospital would send him a thank you letter for
his generosity and consideration of others. His grandparents are Ken and
Carolyn Gallagher of Silverton. Their grandson is Bryson Goettsch and
his address is 5862 Lipscomb St. SE, Salem, OR 97301. Larry

Speaking of the Station, Jim has dedicated a lot of his inside office area to the Club. We have the original Club Banner hanging up with a very empty wall for members to bring down pictures of their ride to show off. Picture below is of the “Empty” wall. Please get a picture down there and Lets Fill That Wall UP!!!!
