January 2005

Okay It is now Officially 2005!!  President Wes Oster has made the announcement here first!!  Lots of Cool things coming up right out of the Gate for 05’.  But I will get to that later.

Last year the Club finished off with right at 70 Members!!  What a cool thing, but it’s not the number, it’s the type of members we have.  From the Experienced (could have said old) to the novice high schooler’s that are part of this COOL Club.  Then you look at the variety of vehicles.  From the Model T’s, Pro Street cars, Street Rods, Pickups and everything in between.  Even have a few glass cars in the mix. That is one thing about having an open club, just about everything can be part of it.

Lots of challenges coming up this year like how many people will come back as members, how many new ones, what sort of stories Wes & Bob will bring back from Tennessee and how and the Hell are we going to handle another Retired member or two?  The newly elected officers of the Flywheels Car Club will expertly handle these and other issues.  Yeah, Right!!

Dec Meeting Notes:

Had 3 guests and 2 of them joined on the spot, pretty cool.  They are Sheldon Schnider with a early Camaro and Leon King with a pair of neat PU’s 64 El Camino and a 78 Ranchero.

Car Show coming up this month at the Jackman Long building Jan 22/23.  Club has about 12-14 entries(?) Bob Noble ramrodding this one.  More info later and at the meeting on Jan 20th.

Also the Canby Swap meet will be Jan 16th at the County Fairgrounds in Canby.

Christmas Party was a blast!!  I counted over 70 people there!  Wes gave out his Club Member of the Year award to Jan Foraker this year.  Way to Jan!!  She has done a ton of stuff in the background for the club, especially at car shows, etc.

Election were held and we have the same officers as last year.

President –                 WES OSTER

V. President -             Bob Noble

Sec-Treas -               Rand Breitbach

P.R. Dude -                Larry Brown

Sgt of Arms-             Brian Littlefield

Motion made to donate $ 200.00 to St.Joseph's and the Silverton Area Community Aid.  Also we gave the clubs half of the 50/50 to Mike Miller to buy clothing items to give to charity too.  He has a pretty cool plan.

Chief Rick Lewis won the 50/50 drawing.  His share was about $50.00!

THE GREAT WHITE NORTH

I would like to thank all of you who attended our "Unofficial" Christmas pageant this year.  The Brotherhood had a good time and hope you did too.

Like last year I have to thank my best friends and fellow brothers for their help????.  First Brother Bill from the "Great Wet West", whom I've known from "The Glory Days" of Silverton Union High School in the 60's. Then there is Brother Glenn, from the "Great Dry East", whom I met in a dirty old sawmill in the 70's. Where we picked slivers and ate saw dust for 8+ hours a day. All I can say is you two are true seductionest's.

This year the Brotherhood had some help in the form of our own alter girl, Heather Dunn. YES an Alter girl!!  After all it is OUR Brotherhood and what would you think we would have??. Heather was safe from the Brothers because her dad Drew is the Orders "Official" Bloody Merry maker. One thing the Brothers never do is to piss off their bar tender, besides her little Brother Preston is in training to become a Brother in our Order. (so far he has only got the part about drinking rum down pat, but St. John is going to work with him on his pickup lines) Heather, it is OK with the Brotherhood if you want to go in to that witness protection program they offered you after you helped us with the party, St. John has the card

This year we also had help planning, staging, getting the gifts (?) from my daughter Andrea, thanks love. She also did the video work, but the Government has taken it under the new Home Land Security Act and is reviewing it for possible charges of bad acting.

What a great year the car club has had, with our big growth in members, great car shows, the Bar-B-Q, etc. and we still know how to make it FUN. The Brotherhood's mission is to keep our car club's reputation for being Oregon's only "FUN" car club.  The Brotherhood will do its part to see to it that this doesn't change and only gets better.

So from the Brotherhood remember, only 11 more months until the 2005 pageant, and we will be working all year on making it even better then the 2004 was.        From

"The Great White North"

Bro. Edd ABBETT OF THE ORDER OF THE SEVEN-DAY SEDUCTIONEST.

GARAGE SCENE:

Ole Noble has moved his 51 F-1 into his shop with Bro Bills assistance and has been playing around with getting it ready to drive.

Sounds like new member Darrel Williams has started work on a 47 Chevy convertible.  Waiting for more info on that one.

Wes Corner!!!!

Well we made it into another New Year.   I hope your Christmas was GOOD and you got something you really wanted.   A new hot rod or maybe classic pickup would be nice. New Years what can I say!!!!!!! Maybe!! Hope everyone made it home New Years Eve   OK. Well we are starting of the New Year with new Officers.  BUT! They all kind of look like the old one from last year.  Which they are, we all "Thank You" for giving us another chance at over seeing this club through another year.  It’s a HELL of a job but some one has to do it.   RIGHT!!   And we will give it our best shot again and just maybe we will get it right this year.   Any way Thanks again for your votes.

Well Bob Noble has been working hard on the car show at Salem on Jan. 22 & 23 at the Salem Fair grounds.   I think "The Club" will have 13 entries plus room for a small Club display.  Anyone having some time on his or her hands may want to Call Bob Noble and find out if he needs any help with setting up on Friday and taking apart on Sunday. I have heard this is a fun show.   May just want to check it out over the weekend of Jan. 22 or 23 Oregon State Fair grounds in Salem.

Rand’s been asking about members garage projects.   Well I started on the "56" middle of Dec. by taking out the entire interior to replace it with stock seat and New floor mats.   Also adding lots of sound dampening material.  Trying to make the truck a little more comfortable for this year’s trip to The Ford F-100 Nationals in Tennessee. Also adding a tilt steering column new steering wheel and more storage room under seat. If I enough time maybe a new Holly carb. and a new bed cover.  Also new AOD after the trip. Should keep me out of trouble this winter.  Well maybe NOT.   Later Wes

P.S.  Jan. meeting is the 20th at The Countryman around 7:30 pm. DUES are due.

Bob’s corner: (?)

We have 13 cars set to be in the Salem Custom Car & Speed show on January 22 & 23.  We will set the displays up on Friday January 21 starting at noon. Some of the folks won't be able to set up early, so we have till 9:00 pm to get set up.  I am setting up a meeting of the ones who are going to participate, on January 11th at 6:00 pm at the Countryman.  I will be calling them this week.  We will need some help in setting up, and someone who will be able to shuttle people back home. Then we will need shuttles on Sunday evening to get the folks back to tear the display down.  We have to be done and out by 9:00 pm Sunday.

We have: Frank Mc Natt, Arnie Marcoe, Jerry Thomas, Keenan Foraker, Larry Brown, Ken & Carolyn Gallagher, Rod & Pattie Wymore, Tano & Sue Lonzaga, Darrel Williams, Rick & Connie O'Malley, Glenn Green, Mark & Darlene Link, and yours truly Bob Noble.

Think about this!

With spring fast approaching (must be Chevy powered) How about the Club plan a couple of trips to Woodburn Drag Strip on one of their open race days, I think they did them on Friday afternoons.  Cheap and Fast Fun!!
