Flywheels November 04

Okay Boys & Girls, It’s the Holiday Season with all the Fun, Food, Get Together, Garage Scenes, Gas Station Openings and all that other stuff.  Did I mention FUN?   Well we have that coming up too!! But first, lets get on with the regular nonsense that is the trademark of these newsletters!!

October Meeting Notes:

Lots of guests and some past members even showed up. Wes gave a “short” report on the Macleay Show.  Larry Brown gave an event update for the coming month including the Albany Swap meet and a Car Show at the Expo Center in Portland that our Club and the Silver T’s are going to assist with security along with other Salem Car Council members.  More on that later in the ‘letter.

The Hot Wheels that the Club donated to the Silverton Hospital was a Big success and we have decided to try to continue with the gesture by having members bring Hot Wheels, etc. new/old in packages to meetings and we’ll start a collection to give to the Hospital on a regular basis.

With the above-mentioned Holiday season upon us, Wes is checking into a possible X-Mas Tree Run like in years past.  Jim Woods a Flywheel member off and on over the years has taken over the Old Texaco service station and plans to open real soon with a nostalgic type gas station.  He even wants to tie the Club in with some of the fun, etc. Hope to have a Grand Opening on November 20th(?).  More info at the November meeting.

 Club Happenings:  Hopefully in order.

 Garage Happenings:

Norm’s working on a 1948 COE truck and making it into a crew cab with the motor behind the cab, with all sorts of cool stuff.

This is Troy (the 70 Coronet Super Bee guy). I just wanted to let everyone know. That I now have a "real" car to work on again.  Some were disappointed when they heard I traded my 70 Charger 318/auto-Daytona clone for a 1970 Coronet 500 convertible (900 made). Well those disappointed few will be glad to know that I have purchased a 1970 Super Bee. Hardtop, 383 magnum, ram charger hood, buckets console-auto. Only 39,000 original one-owner miles! Bad news, it's been sitting outside since about '83. I tried to buy this car for years and "it was going to fixed up one of these days". Well that day has come. So now I have my two-dream cars-1970 Super Bee and 1970 Coronet convertible. Buy the way the convert now has a built 440 so it should satisfy those other whiners.

Car Show @ The Expo update:

The Northwest Performance & Custom Show will be on November 20 and 21 at the Expo Center.  Larry & Norm Brown have 4 people registered to work at the show on Nov 21 representing Silver T.  Wes was going to recruit 6 Flywheels to work Saturday morning November 20 starting at 9 a.m. Showtyme Productions will give free parking passes and entry passes for those working the show.  The Club will need to know who will be working there so Wes hopes to get names, etc. at the meeting on the 18th. Larry Brown will bring fliers to the Flywheels meeting.

 Meeting Notes:

Okay the meeting will be at the Countryman Public House on November 18th at 7:30 PM

Generic Notes from the absent Prez:

Wes made it back from Phoenix on the 11th just as I was finishing up the newsletter.   It sounds like a whole lot of people had a great time even if it did rain a little on their party.  Wes Oster, Edd Oster, Don Littlefield, Glen Green, Justin Green and Ron Keppinger represented the club in traditional fashion along with some other Silverton Folks!!  I even heard Glen was seen on TV during a Speed telecast of Trackside!!
