July Fly Paper 2004

Okay a bunch of us had a great time at the Fathers Day Swap Meet at Chemeketa Community College. I think everyone sold something, maybe not a the specific price, but we got cash money for everything. Had a canopy for us to huddle under and hide from the blazing sun! Besides the Clubs booth, Norm Brown was there with his Rods-n-Relics trailer.

Okay now on to some items that need attention fairly soon, like before the next meeting, The Club B-B-Q is on Saturday July 17, but we need to show up at Bob’s on the Saturday before, July 10th to be specific to assist with a "little" cleanup around the place. Drop on by Bob’s around 11-12 to lend a hand. Oh, speaking of the B-B-Q, make sure to bring something to eat with, a favorite side dish, some neat pictures/stories to share and lawn chairs. And last but not least, you will have to be at the B-B-Q to get a one of a kind Dash Plaque!!!

Now one more important bit of info. The Club decide to cruise over to Molalla on July 11th for the Jim Stutz Memorial Run. The group will leave the Homeplace at 9:30 sharp, but stop in early for breakfast, say 8 AM or so?

Meeting Notes:

Some discussion about the Homer Show. Looks like we’ll have close to 27-30 Trophy’s, that’s up a couple from last year. Claudia, Patty & Bobbie will be handling the 50/50 Raffle this year, Bob and his Parking Crew will be outfitted in New Safety Gear as they park the Rods, Larry is handling the door prizes for the entrants and Rand will be handling the registration chores with help from the usual and not so usual suspects!!

Some of us have dropped by the park to check it out after being paved the other day and it appears we will be okay for parking and might end up with more paved areas for Club Cars. Speaking of Club Cars, I am working on getting an area at the old Geno’s gas station to park some cars for display and informational purposes.

Wes is going to check with the Miller Brothers from MaCleay about possibly using the campground for people to camp out at after the show in September.

The Club got 2nd place in Club Participation at Joseph this past month!! Pretty Cool. Glenn again has reserved 25 rooms for the run next year. There was a bunch of discussion about how to handle future Scholarship awards. Wes will put together a committee later this year to review, etc.

This year the Club’s Circle of Honor representative will be John Clary with his 40 Ford. The other people/cars considered were Jack’s T-Bird and Tano’s Pickup. Neat stuff!! An idea about a Club cruise to the Spruce Goose sometime this year was brought up and sounded good.

Wes Here!!

Well June is about over so I guess that means Summer is here. Summer means HOMER SHOW.. Which is only about a month away. We have the crew Chief's for the show already. Now we need the Indians!!! Crew Chief's are Bob Noble Parking (503-873-6153) Registration Table Rand Breitbach (503-873-4973) Raffle Table Larry Brown (503-873-2738) and 50/50 Drawing Claudia Green (541-382-0761). Now all you got to do is call the Crew Chief you want to work with. The Homer Show is Aug. 7 2004. Which means we only have one schedule meeting on July 15 to get things together.

Lots of one day show coming up this summer. I think Rand will cover some of them in his half of the newsletter. Remember!!! July 10 2004 IS Work Day at Bob Nobles for the B-B-Q at Bob's on July 17 2004 which is a Sat. Always need HELP!!

The Salem Swap Meet Jun 20 was a lot of fun had not been to one in years. Good turn out from the club. Would like to THANK Norm, Larry and Rand for getting the spots.

AGAIN good time even made a few dollars. Maybe should make this a annual thing. ALWAYS!! NEED beer signs. Later Wes

Last Minute:

Okay, one last thing. Here we have a great picture of a GM Guy ( Jerry Thomas ) assisting a poor broken down Ford guy ( Wes ) with his folding chair that seems to be giving Wes some trouble. You won’t be able to tell from the newsletter, but the chair is Ford Blue and is broken. Nuff said!!!

Oh okay, one more last thing. A group of Club Members made the annual trek over to Woodburn to see all the Oldies but Goodies race!! Sitting on the upper row are Wes, Rod, Pattie, Julie Justin & Glenn. ( Justin & Glenn are hidden) Then the second row contains Edd & Bro Bill. Note the sponsor of the stands. Good call, right Bob? Noble that is.

Okay, The Last Thing. The Officers will have a meeting on Monday July 12 at Wes’s Garage and we will plan out the Registration packet packing party before the Homer Show, plan a "walk about" at the park to make sure the place looks right.
