"THE GREAT WHITE NORTH"
Well we got through another X-Mas party, the "OFFICIAL" and the not-so-official one, and I would like to think that we lived up to our clubs reputation. "If you want to have fun, join the Flywheels" and if you don't like crazy, wild, fun loving people who want to belong to a FUN car club, you WILL not fit in well with this club, and would like one of those other dull car clubs a lot better.Everyone always thanks the people who help make a party work, so at this time, here go's. First what can I say about my two wise guys, ( that you could put in the newsletter anyway), Old Bill Brietbach, (sometime nail bender) Bro. Glenn Green, (dog catcher in downtown Alalfla) two of my oldest and dearest friends on this earth. So I don't get either of them in trouble (law or otherwise) I will just say "THANKS!!!". I'm so glad you two STILL have that "off the wall" humor that you had way back when we first met, it has served us well, with out it we would never have made it this far.
I should like to thank the Flywheels car club for giving us the venue to have our unofficial party, but then we would have done it anyway, but it was nice of the members to stay around and laugh WITH us. Lastly, Bro. GREEN reminded me to tell any of the car club members that want to join "the order of the seven day seductionest" to send their names, (on the back of a $100.00 bill), to him at the Alfalfa store. The Order is planing on building a monastery for the Order in Central Oregon, (OK!! so we want to build a bar), so we will accept donations . The Bro.'s will retire there to carry on their mission to spread the Order's message of Seduction and good times. Bro. GREEN thought that the " 3 Brothers" may just make it to the "Bar-B-Q" at Bob's" this Summer with some new and "interesting" happenings within the Order . We will just have to wait to see.......
To the membership, all I can say is...Happy New Year!!!! and I hope see you at the Portland Roadster Show..... Edd, (or is it Bro. Edd??) "The Great White North"
Rand’s stuff
Well, all I can say is, Welcome Back!!! Hopefully Edd will continue to submit articles for consumption by the members. Speaking of members, It is a new year and we are more than willing to accept dues, donations, etc. from current and maybe even some new members.
Hopefully everyone had a nice Holiday and all, but it is time to get down to some more Fly Type Fun. Portland Roadster Show is coming on fast and the Boys in charge need a little hometown or Salem, Molalla, Mt Angel, etc. help and I Do Not Mean the Gardens!! That is not hometown!!
Hey, I have some simple membership cards I will be handing out at the meeting.
Roadster Show Crew here:
Larry and I have some ideas for the Portland Roadster show. Looking for photo's or newspaper articles from 1961 or anything from that era to use in our display. All entrants with photo's with their cars or anything around that year would be cool. All photo's or articles will be copied so the originals won't be damaged. Contact me or Larry. Keenan.
Come to the next meeting ready to sign up for security times, etc. Rand will have the sign up sheet there for everyone to look at. And Bob Noble will have most everything finished ready to send in the money for the entrants. Any last minute people please contact Bob Noble to get on board!! 503-873-6152.
December meeting stuff:
Well we got the meeting going on time, had a couple of guests, Jerry & Mary Jo Strom, talked about the clubs money and then decided to get on with the meeting.
Some discussion about the Homer Show and the parking issue, etc. etc. More in a couple of months.
We held nominations for Officers and these are the finalists.
President: Wes (of course)
V.P. Bob Noble & Kathy Brown
Sec-Tres. Rand Breitbach
Sgt.of Arms: Brian Littlefield & Bill Maclaskey
P.R. Guy Larry Brown
The O’Fest people have approached the club about taking over/running/assisting with their 2 day show (separate shows each day) Wes and others to follow up and have more info later.
The web site is almost back up with a whole new look and lots of extras and get this. Less Money!! Have lots of ideas for assisting with paying for it so there would be very little club investment in it.
Edd brought up the idea & the members voted to hand out some of our regular club money to a couple of the local Food Banks. Bob McGowan & Carl Brown assisted with getting money delivered. @ checks for $200.00 each were handed to Bob.
Club is also looking into a Post Office box to get Wes’s address off all the communications the Club gets.
Roadster Show:
Theme this year is "Hot Rodding American Style" Heard a possible rumor of having that Cool Ford Pickup, The FR100 of Bob & Wes Fame at the show and maybe even with a Flywheels plaque in the window. But we all need to try to make the January meeting to get this all put together!!
Prez. Corner::::
First off I hope everyone had a GREAT Holiday and got everything you wanted on your Christmas List. Our first meeting of the New Year will be Jan. 15 2004 at The Countryman. Meeting starting around 7:30 pm. I am sure Sue will have something good to eat for the ones that get there early. Also bring money 2004 dues are due and still only $12.00. At that price you can't afford not to belong and we vote on new officers. So you just can't afford to miss this first meeting of the year.
Its looking like another busy new year starting right out of the box with The Portland Roadster Show. Anyone planning on showing a vehicle needs to have pictures for Bob Noble Jan. 15 meeting night. Also need to sign work shift list for security, Frank McNatt is working with Rand on the sign-up list. Also still looking at O'Fest show in Mt Angel More on this at Jan. meeting.
Would like to take a min. to thank everyone that attend the club Christmas party. I though it was a real good time. Santa and ALL his helpers did a GREAT job. They even had gifts left over for some of the members who didn't make the party. I'm sure they will save them till next year. Most the gifts were coal.See you-all the 15 of Jan. at The Countrymen. Later Wes
