Flywheels Newsletter, October 2003MaCleay 2003!!

Well, we pulled another one off! Even though we were a few cars short of our usual crowd! Like about 50 cars or so. BUT, we had a pretty good day in the Raffle and Auction category.

Sept meeting notes:

First off, another new member, Dan & Colleen Gilham with a 35 Dodge PU Resto Rod.  30 people at the meeting! Wow, a great turn out. Wes started off the meeting with Typed notes to refer to. Way to Teckie!!

Pep talk about the Macleay show

Discussion between the Committee heads as to how to operate on Saturday

One special note, Drew was placed in charge of the Honey Buckets.

SEE, you need to come to meetings to get in on all the FUN!!!

No Camp out at MaCleay.

Some discussion about going back to the Home Place Rest for some of the meetings during the year.

X-Mas party at the Countryman 12/20

Macleay, The Show!!

Okay, we dodged a bullet on the Saturday of the run. We have been wondering when one of these days would show up with all the other runs we are competing with going on. But with all the great help and effort from the around 40 members on hand we were still able to have a great time and not lose our butts in the mean time.

Connie, Rick, myself and a bunch of others registered 116 Cars, way down from previous years!

Larry Brown did another fantastic job with the raffle and a big Thanks to all his helpers.

Claudia and her friends collected a couple hundred for the 50/50, we gave out $100.00

Big Bob and his parking crew did another fine job. But they did look like surveyors out there with the pink tape and Who in the Hell gave Lynn a Hammer around all those cars?? Oh, the cars weren’t yet.

And to finish it off, Gary did a Great Job of entertaining the crowd while he auctioned off a nice group of beer signs etc. Oh, the take???

How about $ 1153.50 !!!

Club Goings On:

Hey Rand and the rest of the club. We got the firebird into the sevens. 7.95@173.43 mph. We even managed to win the race 2 weeks in a row. See, there is still hope for us older hot rodders out there!! The Real Bob

That little quote was from Live Member Bob Schmidt with his newly acquired ex-pro stock Firebird with his motor out of the Willy’s. Those numbers are from a single 4 barrel NO nitrous big block chev, if anyone was interested.

Hey, I went down today and checked on the prices for sweatshirts & long sleeve T’s. Not real bad. Nice sweats will run about $20.00 or less with emblem, etc. and T’s will run about $12.00 or so with stuff on um.

Jeff took delivery of some neat new Fly emblems for your windows. Some of you ordered some at the MaCleay show. SO Make sure to come on down to the meeting and have some fun.

Wes Corner!!!

Well another meeting up on us. October the 16 is the date, around 7:30 pm is the time, The Countryman is the place, the location is 1405 Mill Street Silverton Oregon, I don't know the food special. Now that you got ALL that info. you got NO reason for not making the meeting. Plus Big Bob will be there and that's enough reason right there.

Well we made it through the Macleay Show in flying colors. The Car/Truck count was DOWN from last year quite a bit. The Entry Fees just paid the bills.. BUT! the raffles made the money for the Club this year. This shows that GOOD raffle prize's and the hard work of the 50/50 raffle people pays off when the turn out is down. GOOD JOB to the crews. The beer sign auction raised around 1,000.00+ for the scholarship fund. THANKS Gary!!! And remember beer signs can be collected year round. Registration went real smooth with lots of help getting vehicles signer in and the parking did good as usual. "THANK YOU-ALL" again job well done. Our shows seem to just get better each year BUT! hell they should we are "The Club" Show dates for 2004 looks like this.

The Homer Show Sat. Aug. 7 2004 and Macleay Country Cruise Inn Sept 18 2004. Well the rain has started time to put away the old "hot rod" and think about what the winter project will be. And maybe start making plans for next year, like maybe take in a few NEW shows and maybe another trip to Tennessee. Hope to see you-all meeting night. Later Wes
