The Silverton Flywheels

Monthly Newsletter for September 2003

Rand’s opener

Hey, we are only 2 weeks (or less) away from MaCleay 2003!! We need to get our stuff together. So why don’t we have a meeting and then a packet packing party and last but not least, lets have a great car show on the 20th!!

But lets get back to basics here. The month of August was a very busy month!! Lots of car shows, cruises and international excursions. First off, lets do the August meeting stuff.

Meeting Notes:

* 23 members present and a couple of guests. And several of them joined. Troy & Linda St.Clair & Tano & Sue Lonzaga both of Silverton joined. Glenn Norby from Keizer stopped by and will probably join soon. At least that’s what Jack said.

* Discussion of August cruise was bantered about.

* Portland Roadster show again on the plate for this winter.

* Homer show results: 146 CARS !!! Great Job crews!!

* Blue Moon Café had 22 members there to represent the club. I was the one with the siren blaring as I drove by in my fire truck.

Macleay Show crews:

Registration: Connie along with lots of helpers

Parking: The Bob Noble crew again

Raffle: Larry Brown and his band of ???

Thank You brother Bob and the Silverton Flywheels for the Get Well Card. It is great belonging to a club who’s members have empathy and really care about one another. I appreciated the get well card for more than having Mary receive a sympathy card.

We had fun in the Albany hospital with the Albany car show trophies. We told the people that the Albany hospital was giving out awards and that we received them for being the best nurse and best patient. Bob Bullard

Portland Roadster Show update

The Silverton Flywheels will again have a display at the 2004 Portland show. We want member’s cars in our show display as a way of promoting the Flywheels.

Each car must submit an entry form with required information and photos. Entry forms can be obtained from Bob Noble 503-873-6152. Completed forms with photos need to be returned to Bob Noble so they can be sent to MHRC. It may sound like we are starting early, but Tony Chamberlain, President of MHRC, tells us that the show is filling fast and that we need to get moving. Bob Bullard

Wes's Corner!!!

Next Flywheels Club will be Sept.. 18 at The Countryman Public House starting around 7:30 pm. I'm sure Sue will have some kind of before meeting special. Also by coming early you may get a chance to meet some of our new members.

Took in a couple shows so far this month. A 25th. Wedding Anniversary show at Sisters Oregon for our members Glenn and Claudia Green from Alfalfa hosted by their kids. Great time even won a trophy. Way to go Kids have 25 more. The next weekend found my way along with some more club members to Salem for Willamette Valley Street Rods Carousel Cruise. Great show around 250 cars/trucks. Must of been around 7 or 10 Flywheels cars/trucks there. One was from Nevada and two were NEW members. Good to see you all making the shows. DON"T FORGET the Flywheels Macleay Show the 20 of Sept. Will need as many members as possible at Macleay show area by 0730 Sat. morning Sept 20 2003. Till later.      "Wes the fast truck"

There will be an Officers meeting at Wes’s on the 15th at 7:00 and we will do the packet packing party at the meeting on the 18th at The Countryman.

One last thing, everyone needs to grab a beer sign, raffle prize, etc along with a business card from the supplier before the next meeting. We can then compare notes, signs, etc.
